Today was Jackson’s first t-ball game. Because of the crazy rain, he’s only had 4 practices. Last weekend, we had the parade, in which all of the teams in the league marched around a high school gym. Today, we were all at the field for a 9 am game.
The goal of t-ball is mostly to get kids used to the idea of baseball – the basic rules, where to run, how to throw and catch. The youngest kid on our team is still 3, and I don’t think you can be older than 6. Two of our really good Dad friends are the coaches. Max also helped out as 3rd base coach today. (Someone needs to be at each base to tell the kids when and where to run.)
How is Jackson at t-ball? Well, he’s better at soccer. But he pays attention and runs well. He just can’t really catch, which actually bothers me. It’s the only developmental milestone he’s not hit. He can’t catch a hand-sized ball at all. He’s better at throwing, but doesn’t like to follow the actual throwing technique, preferring to do it his way. I’m sure he’ll get better as the season goes on. It runs ’til mid-June. Soccer starts at the end of July.
OK, without further ado, I’ll post a few pictures.
