Is Anyone Out There? Is Any One In Here?

My mom is the one who read this blog the most. She passed away in May. Since then, I’ve had no desire to update. But I feel guilty, because I’ve been out of touch with pretty much the entire world for most of the year. I’m hoping to get back into the habit of updating [...]

I Miss My Mom

(originally posted on LiveJournal)
I think that about a dozen times each day – I miss my mom.
But I really miss her right now.
Jack started throwing up right before bed time. Eggs. It may have something to do with the fact that he ate ice off of the floor of McDonald’s last night.
Anyway…
I really don’t know [...]

Did It Have to Be So Soon?

(originally posted on LiveJournal)
I was reading Jack his story – the board book I made for him about his adoption – and one of the lines is something like, “Max and Robyn had to prove [to the social worker] that they would be good parents-” and Jack stopped me.
“But you’re not good parents.”
“Really, why?”
“Because you’re [...]

Cute Jack Stories

(originally posted on LiveJournal)
I’m not sure where it came from, but Max and I decided that Simba (from The Lion King) goes “wiggle wiggle pounce!”. We have taught Jack that, starting when he was just a wee small baby. We extended that to all cats, ferrets, and occasionally other animals as well. Last night, Dino (pronounced [...]

He’s a Tramp

(originally posted on LiveJournal)
Jack has recently (as in, since Sunday) become obsessed with The Lady and the Tramp. He likes the white dog – Peg. Peg sings “He’s a Tramp”. Jack asked me to sing it for him at bed time. So I sang…
“He’s a tramp, but they love him.
Breaks a new heart, everyday.
He’s a tramp, [...]

Jack’s First Pun

(originally published on LiveJournal)
We’re playing Incredibles (with Jack dressed in his Incredibles pjs) and Max is Mr. Incredible. We went to my office to fight the Omni Droid. Mr. Incredible says, “Where is something I can punch?”
Without missing a beat, Jack goes to the craft table, picks up my dragonfly shape maker and says, “Here’s [...]

Nana’s In Heaven

Jack saw my mom’s jewelry box and wanted to know what was in it. I told him that it was some of Nana’s jewelry.
He said, “Nana went to heaven.”
I said, “Yes.”
He said, like a jaded teenager, “So you took her stuff?”
I love my kid. Even if he hasn’t been using his listening ears.

I Have Magic

(originally published on LiveJournal)
My mom passed away this morning. Well, technically yesterday morning, as it’s 12:49 am.
We told Jack that Nana went to heaven. He asked a couple of questions, and seemed OK. Then, just before bed, he asked again, “Why did Nana go to heaven?” We told him that Nana was very, very sick. Jack [...]

“Johnny”

Jack and Max went to the pet store to get cat food one day. They didn’t come home with cat food – not in the traditional sense. They came home with a fish.
Apparently, Jack asked like this:
I want this one.
I really really really love him.
He’s my very very very very best friend in the world.
And [...]

Quick Update

Jack had his 3 year old well visit (no shots of course) last week. He’s 35 1/2 inches tall and weighs 32 pounds. I almost can’t carry him anymore!
